dA :devart: has great policy that helps to protect deviants from copyright violations. If you can prove that anything is a violation, with first use proof (same as a legal copyright registration) they will remove the violation or ask the deviant to do so. We must remember that there are many young deviants learning about all of this for the first time. I am honored to have a place like dA to show my work and to be inspired and appreciate others.

True dat :salute:

You are "dead on", Shell. The legislation that doesn't exist, had to do with only intellectual property, that was truly abandoned. OR intellectual property, where the original artist could no longer be identified, or contacted. This had nothing to do with anyone here on DA, since all the art is on a page where the artist is identified, where it links back to the artist's profile and you can note the artist.

What I would like to see, is a concise step by step of how to go about enforcing your copyright privileges, Possibly you could find your old friend in that area of law, and do a concise tutorial on it. Not to be negative, but I think we'd find that unless we have a pot load of money, no one on DA could actually do much more than we do... Which is nag the perpetrator into submission!

Good luck with all your endeavors!

I really tried to do that when I was a GD and got my hand slapped for stepping on policy/procedure toes ;) Makes one wonder why. Perhaps I will now that I am not staff.

 Only guessing, but probably it comes too close to offering legal advise, and they were afraid of liability.....

That's a great "guess", I didn't even think of that. You are probably right on the money there!

So the bottom line is that, for people on dA, nothing's really changed?
