Remembering my Mom

I love you Mom.
I must say that the poem I wrote last year, here on DeviantART has really helped me in my recovery. I will probably post it again on Mother's Day, and who knows how many times after that! DeviantART has been a great healing tool for me and I thank you all for that.

Time for a new poem, one not as focused on approval for performance, but acceptance for as is. We all evolve as does our art.

What a glorious day we had. Sadly all that cool salty air jarred my head cold back into action :: It was well worth it. I truly needed some time just watching the children having a blast.

We started at the park. Oh the friends we met at the park! My lil guy met a new friend named Ely. Ely was like him, just a little smaller. I was a bit concerned because Zaya looked at Ely like a big doll borrowed from his sister. In no time Ely brought out the toy matchbox car that he brought to the park, and Zaya did the same. Oh friends for life! It's ON.

They played store, went "fishing" played on the slide and swings. Oh what fun! Then it became time to leave and Ely, younger than Zaya, did not understand at all. He cried and cried and his momma tried to reassure him and then something lovely happened. Zaya ran up to Ely, put his arm around the lil guy and said "It'll be alright." This mama melted into a puddle right there.

I'd give you a play by play of the ocean too, but I will spare you

PS I still have a boatload of images of Yosemite and Big Sur to process When photographing the children..it all takes a complete different twist.

I have some news and a Contest!

Thanks to my dear friends `mom-the-bomb and @IaiaRose I have been inspired to start a portrait studio. We have the room here and I will go into more detail about that soon. I am not a portrait photographer but have been asked by family and friends if I would do some work for them. I normally turn it down. The economic crisis has hit us pretty hard and I am grabbing every job I can right now!

I will learn as much as I can from the great portrait photographers here.

I NEED YOUR HELP
I have been using my signature (shell) as my photograph signature for many many moons. I would like a logo/stamp for just my portraits with the signature incorporated into it. I want to start a contest for it.

What should the contest prize be? Is a year sub enough? Help me out please

Should I start a new account just for the portraits? Or should I host them somewhere else?

I seem to direct people here to my dA account all the time. I love the way everything is categorized and so nicely presented. How about you?
