CHARITY




The 1 in 8 foundation is primarily a motor sports foundation which raises money for breast cancer early detection (hence the logo.)
1 in 8 is branching out towards the arts and towards youth. I am very excited to be part of this organization during this transition. They are currently creating a website where artists can sell their work and a percentage of all sales go to the cause. They could use a hand with web design and developing. Ken Vrana the CEO *Speedsters is pretty picky and likes things done a certain way, if you feel you would like the challenge, please note me. Ken Vrana is seriously a visionary, a go getter and a non stop mover. He was a Hollywood filmmaker/producer and has since devoted all of his time to this cause.



They have been at this for 8 years now. Starting out as a videotographer for Sir Paul McCartney, working on a documentary as a fund raiser for Breast Cancer Early Detection Awareness. It had high profile exposure due to Linda McCartney's battle with cancer. That was all it took for Ken to start on this campaign, for he and other members of his family have had breast cancer.





I have seen the effects of Breast Cancer my whole life. My Mom, Nonnie and little sister all died of cancer as did others in my family . I started with AR because $Moonbeam13 was so very active in helping to promote Breast Cancer Awareness. It is what made me want to belong to this dA Community. The amazing selflessness of all these artists, really blew me away!

I have since wrote a poem for my mom to add some closure, I have made a decision to make my health a high priority and have dedicated myself to be of service to those put in my path.

I am not trying to push all these organizations down your throat, really, I'm not. It's just that, if our art can make a difference in this stuff that has affected my whole life then I have to promote it!

My health has deteriorated for some years now and everyday is a gift. What do we do with this gift? When I first got sick, I sat on a pity pot. Depression comes easy to the homebound and or bedridden. Art is an incredible tool to chase away, feel and deal with the blues! Helping others is like icing on the cake.

So-- 1 in 8 One in eight woman are affected by breast cancer. I would think that statistic has been made incorrect these days and I would think it is much higher.

Early Detection is our best defense!

We did get some new entries! I created a Contest Folder in my faves so you may see what we have. We need many many more.

I am not receiving many entries for the drawing contests, perhaps because my network is 90% Photographers. Come on folks you can do it!

Remember I told you last month that we have a "Give it away" event. We will be gathering as many art pieces as we can that support the Special Olympics and sending prints to a very special young man who will pass them around amongst his teammates and fellows.

Carpe Diem!! Seize the Day!!


I ask you to help me by joining together with Artists4Change! We need some logos, avatars and some energy to get this off the ground. My little vacation certainly didn't help. My news about it only got 9 ! Please help change that! I haven't been in the chatroom either, but that is soon to change.



We still have the contest going for the kids as Disney characters but we also have a Logo contest for 1in8!

One in 8 is an amazing company and I would like to better introduce you to them.
They raise money to give help to companies who are pursuing the Early Detection of Breast Cancer. They have been doing so using motor sports, cars, motorcycles etc. Ken Vrana started this company after working with Paul McCartney and his organization for 8 years now.

Ken has a board of Directors that reads like the who's who in celebrity-ville and they are adding new divisions to the organization, primarily in the arts! Ken used to be a well known Hollywood Producer who now dedicates his life to pursuing this cause. He has family members who live with this disease. I have been fortunate enough to join him in this cause and most of you know, this is a cause very near and dear to my heart.

The foundation has logos for the motor-sports etc, but the one for the ARTS needs to be created. I have talked about it before in detail. I will post a news item with some samples within a day or so. This organization will offer to us a place to sell our ART with a percentage of the proceeds going straight to the scholarship funds. 100% of the proceeds go straight to the early detection. There is no staff or overhead. Just people like me lol

There will be many career opportunities also, please keep that in mind.

Right now we are looking for:

Artists to create logos and also web designers.

We are looking for a new logo. An hourglass with a lovely lady straddling it/holding it almost like Atlas holding the world. She is nearly naked holding one breast with one hand and the hourglass with another. This will need to be able to become jewelery, masthead, stamps and the like. Remember to keep it simple yet intricate. (I will put up samples soon.)
